It’s because of the people around East Anchorage that we’ve been able to open up new clinics and help Alaskans deal with their neck pain, shoulder pain, sciatica, and more a bigger scale. They made it possible for us to be the first to combine chiropractic care with physical rehab, and create the Alaska Back Pain Protocol with the help of over 6,000 patients like you.

We’ve shaped the hours of our East Anchorage chiropractor clinic around the local rhythm of the city.
Hailing from Plainfield, Indiana, Dr. Nicholas got his core education through an undergraduate program in Columbia, Missouri and Logan University. Since then he’s taught anatomy & physiology to nursing students for years, and been an integral part of the Better Health Chiropractic family here in Alaska. When he isn’t in the clinic or with his significant other (they met in grad school), he’s either playing with his dogs or restoring old American motor cars (a 69 Rambler and a 76 Gremlin are two examples).
Dr. Brent founded Better Health Alaska with his amazing wife Coni in 1998. He received his B.S. from the University of Nevada (where they met), and his doctorate from the Western States Chiropractic College in Portland, Oregon. When he isn’t with his family, building his ongoing professional education, or helping folks at the clinic, he’s either doing something community-centered or playing blues/rock guitar.

There’s a very healthy family of providers in Anchorage, and we’re proud to be a part of it! Where we differ is that we provide a comprehensive experience that can include the full range of chiropractic care, massage therapy, and physical rehab in one convenient location, with tech like the DRS system. Here’s three other things we can tell you:
Since 1998 we’ve done our best to gather patient testimonials and reviews because we know how important they are to you (we take them seriously as well). So far we have over 200 that you can freely browse at your leisure to see what folks are saying. Enjoy!
It really depends on the respective jurisdictions, along with Alaska statutes and regulations that determine the scope of clinical procedures our chiropractors can legally perform. At our East Anchorage chiropractor, physical rehab, and massage therapy clinic we provide a comprehensive array of treatments to deal with a large variety of common issues local Alaskans deal with.
Chiropractic care or medicine (non-surgical, and often drug-free) is focused on musculoskeletal conditions, how they relate to your central nervous system and impact health. It’s complex, and we could go super-deep into it, but in essence when you’re dealing with back pain/problems, shoulder pain, or issues that involve your knee/arm joints, or you’re experiencing headaches – chiropractic care is often a safe and reliable approach to addressing the issue(s).
To relieve pain and restore mobility (overall bodily function) in a more natural, non-surgical way! There’s far too many recognized benefits to list here, but improved posture, reduced inflammation, spinal re-alignment, lowered blood pressure, surgery prevention, improved athletic/fitness performance are a few. Big stress reliever as well, especially when combined with massage therapy which we do.
All Better Health Alaska chiropractors are specially trained to work with pregnant women, and there are no known “contraindications” or issues. Chiropractic care or spinal manipulation is great when women are putting all that extra weight on their lower backs, the tension in their spine, and the immense amounts of physiological stress. Pinched nerves are common, as are misalignments.
Once we look at the symptoms of your neck pain, and establish the cause through an examination or x-rays if needed, we’ll design a treatment plan that could be anything from a quick spinal adjustment, to a mixture of comprehensive chiropractic care, neck exercises, and massage therapy. We’ll also talk about ways to improve your lifestyle to reduce neck pain, shoulder pain, and back pain.
Depending on where the herniated disc is (neck, lumbar, thoracic), there are a variety of options to choose from. Is it the result of a sudden injury, or the aging process (disk degeneration)? We also need to take your symptoms into account – tingling, numbness, weakness in your arms or legs, etc. Once we know what we’re dealing with, we’ll design a plan that can include chiropractic care, rehab therapy, the DRS system, low back pain treatment, and MCU therapy.
When a disc in your spine has slipped out of place and become weakened through injury, or because of deterioration that happens over time, it can swell and further extend beyond where it’s supposed to be. Simply put, bulging discs can lead to herniation and put pressure on nearby nerves. Like all other conditions, we’ll assess symptoms/causes, then design treatment around you and your lifestyle that reduces pain, eases inflammation, and restores mobility.
