Joint Injections in Juneau
Reduce joint pain and inflammation with minimally invasive joint injections at Better Health Rehab in Juneau, Alaska.
Joint pain is common in people of all ages. Whether you’re experiencing pain in the knee, hip, wrist, elbow, or shoulder, it’s likely affecting your quality of life.
No one wants to live in pain. And you don’t have to.
Minimally invasive joint injections are available in many forms and are often used after other conservative methods show little or no improvement. If you’ve been suffering from chronic joint pain, a minimally invasive injection could be right for you.

Knee Injections for Osteoarthritis
There’s no cure for osteoarthritis, but there are many ways to manage the pain so you can function and stay active. One of the best ways to do this is by replacing the joint’s hyaluronic acid (HA). This lubricating and protective gel-like fluid is lacking in those with osteoarthritis. This is often what causes pain and dysfunction in the knee.
At Better Health Alaska, we offer a number of minimally invasive injection options for knee osteoarthritis. They’re best for people who don’t respond to conservative treatments. Our medical professionals will help you determine if one of the following is right for you.
Euflexxa Injections
Euflexxa is a naturally derived HA that provides that much-needed lubrication and protection within the joint. For those who find that conservative methods and over-the-counter pain medications don’t work, Euflexxa could be the best option.
Studies show that Euflexxa is effective, safe, and can last up to six months after a series of of minimally invasive injections.
Orthovisc Injections
We also offer minimally invasive Orthovisc injections for knee osteoarthritis. Orthovisc uses naturally derived sodium hyaluronate to re-lubricate and protect the knee.
Clinical trials have found Orthovisc to be an effective way to treat mild-to-moderate knee osteoarthritis.
Supartz Injections
Supartz is another injection solution that has been shown effective for knee osteoarthritis. It was approved by the FDA in 2001. Like Euflexxa, it works by lubricating and protecting the knee joint, thereby reducing pain and inflammation due to osteoarthritis.
Typical treatment includes a course of five minimally invasive injections. Studies show that between three and five minimally invasive injections can provide relief for up to six months with a low risk of serious adverse effects.
Local Corticosteroids for Joint Inflammation
One of the first steps in treating a painful joint is reducing inflammation. Whether the inflammation is caused by arthritis, degeneration, or injury, it’s important to reduce inflammation to work on the cause of the pain.
This is where corticosteroids are extremely useful.
No matter which of the major joints is in pain, corticosteroids can be effective in reducing pain and inflammation. This allows us to apply physical medicine treatments for long-term relief.
How Corticosteroids Are Injected?
Usually applied with a local anesthetic, such as Lidocaine, corticosteroids are injected directly into the affected joint. Once you are deemed a candidate for this kind of minimally invasive injection, the procedure doesn’t take long.
If you are suffering from joint pain due to inflammation, minimally invasive corticosteroid injections could work for you. However, it’s generally best to try conservative methods of treatment first, such as rest and physical therapy.
This is why we are proud to offer both conservative methods and minimally invasive joint injections at Better Health Alaska. This gives our patients more options for their treatment.
Who Can Benefit From Minimally Invasive Corticosteroid Injections?
Minimally invasive corticosteroid injections are not a long-term solution to joint inflammation. Long-term use increases the risk of side effects. And while short-term use is safe for most people, it’s best used when conservative options have been exhausted.
At Better Health Alaska, our Chiropractic Doctors and medical professionals will discuss your options after a thorough exam and medical history. Most of the time, corticosteroids are used to reduce pain and inflammation so we can heal the underlying cause of the pain through physical therapy modalities, chiropractic care, and massage.
Contact us today to schedule an appointment and see if corticosteroid injections can help you.
Minimally Invasive Joint Injections from Better Health Alaska
Knee pain is the most common joint pain people experience, but the shoulders, wrists, elbows, and hips certainly aren’t immune to pain and inflammation. Sometimes joint pain is just normal wear-and-tear. Other times, it’s caused by osteoarthritis, injury, tendonitis, or tears in the ligaments.
The type of issue you’re facing will determine the best injection (if any) to treat your pain. While we’ve mentioned the most common minimally invasive injections above, we offer other options for treating joint pain so you can get back to your active, pain-free life.
Schedule an appointment today to discover how Better Health Juneau can help relieve your joint pain while avoiding surgery and the use of dangerous narcotics.

What our patients say about us?
I like Better Health's full-on, multi-faceted plan to recovery, and their approach to overall chiropractic health.
Better Health Chiropractic & Physical Rehab is a one stop shopping care unit. No need to run around and get other appointments for different ailments, just come to one place for everything. The staff is great! Good to fantastic all the time. My neck muscles and back muscles have improved beyond my belief- and are much stronger. Thank you!
I had severe low back pain so bad that I couldn’t stand up. Within one week of treatment I was able to walk and do normal activity with a little back pain. After two weeks of chiropractic and rehab in the Anchorage office, the pain was almost gone, and in three weeks there was no pain at all. Everybody was terrific. Thank you so much!!
The DRS System spinal decompression machine has benefited me in tremendous ways. I thought there was no hope for recovery of my lower back pain/ injury. With this treatment it definitely has made a difference in my life. My pain is less severe and continues to get better.
After my car accident, I was suffering from upper and lower back pain and neck pain. I was unable to work because of my pain, so I took time off to have physical therapy. I needed a chiropractor in the Anchorage area. I was treated here at Dr. Brent Wells’ office with IFC, ultra sound, massage, and home and in-office rehab exercise. The staff was very enthusiastic and cared for my well-being. This encouraged me to try my hardest to get better. I’m now back at work and beginning to feel great!
A significant difference in the care at Better Health Chiropractic & Physical Therapy had to do with the time staff members took to listen to my concerns and feedback.
