His pursuit of excellence in health care will leave you feeling healthy and invigorated after he has laid his extremely skilled hands on you. I have suffered from back pain for over ten years I was sure I would need my spine fused. I met with Dr. Woolfenden and he was more in depth and thorough than all the doctors and chiropractors I had ever worked with. He figured out the problem and is very helpful and giving me the tools to live life pain free. Hard to believe that six months ago I would feel paralyzed by pain if I laid down, and I felt pain daily, but now I have more pain free days than not. I was prescribed pain meds and muscle relaxers to help me cope. All the other doctors I met with would give me a bandaid but never anything to fix it. All that changed when I went to better health and wellness! Kevin is the massage therapist there and he is really very good. Best massages I have ever had in the valley. Alizabeth at the front desk is always sweet and friendly. They get me in right away and I never have to wait. Fun atmosphere of helpful healing. I am so glad I found them!!!

I went to Better Health barely able to walk and in severe pain, less than two months later I am able to walk, hike, bike, etc!!! Everyone is very nice and accommodating. My previous physical therapist (in another state) did not come close to how thorough Better Health is when it came to my injury. Very happy with my experience!!

The first time I injured my back, I was in pain for six weeks without seeking care. The second time it happened, I couldn’t bear the thought of another six weeks in agony and decided to get chiropractic care for the first time in my life. I called the folks at Better Health Chiropractic, got an appointment THAT DAY, was put on a treatment plan, and within days I was feeling better. I am so grateful to Dr. Woolfenden and the team in Wasilla. You DON’T have to live in pain, give them a call!

Frequently Asked Questions about Chiropractors:

What does a chiropractor do?

The complete answer is far too complex to dive into here. Technically, chiropractic focuses on the musculoskeletal system and how it pertains to the central nervous system, and how these are affecting the rest of the body. At our Wasilla chiropractic clinic, we take a comprehensive team-based approach to addressing the many issues associated with your spine, arm and knee joints, headaches, overall fitness, functionality, and eating lifestyle, etc.

When to see a chiropractor?

Well, the answer varies from person to person depending on the issue you’re dealing with. Some people bear immense neck pain, back pain, low mobility, and so on. Other Wasillians show up after that first good snowmobile crash or quad-mishap. Honestly, your spine’s pretty important and should be looked after to maintain full health simply because we are human. When you visit our clinic is ultimately up to you as a patient.

Does chiropractic work?

Absolutely! But we’re all chiropractors and massage therapists around here, so we’re rather biased. That said, the discipline is complex, incorporates a good amount of your body, and there are tons of conditions involved. Do critics exist? Yes indeed, so we encourage you to do some homework on whether chiropractic works for your specific issue, or reach out and contact us and we’ll get you up to speed.

Is chiropractic safe?

Yes! Spinal manipulation (non-surgical) is considered safe. Is any surgery 100% safe? Is it safe to take dietary supplements, pharmaceuticals, or go through facial reconstruction? Truth is there have been lawsuits and legal battles with chiropractors, like any other profession. Chiropractic malpractice insurance is incredibly low in comparison to other major fields of medicine. This tells us that those supporting the field of chiropractic also believe it to be incredibly safe. The details depend on your chiropractor and the condition that is being addressed. Choosing a trained provider you trust is important.

What does a chiropractor do for lower back pain?

It depends on symptoms and what’s causing the lower back pain – bulging discs, subluxations, degenerating discs, spinal stenosis, and arthritis, etc. One of our core treatments involves the DRS system (Decompression, Reduction, & Stabilization – FDA approved), a highly-effective, drug-free, non-surgical form of disc decompression therapy.

What is spinal decompression therapy?

Simply, spinal decompression uses traction, distraction and body positioning to decompress or relieve tension and pressure from spinal discs and facet joints. Most turn to spinal decompression therapy when dealing with lower lumbar back pain, spinal disc protrusion, and herniated or bulging discs. At our Wasilla chiropractic clinic, we combine chiropractic care with rehab and massage therapy to relieve pain and restore mobility.

What does a chiropractor do for sciatica?

When the largest nerve in the human body starts acting up due to compression, first our chiropractor will assess symptoms and determine the source of the sciatic issue. Then, through a custom treatment that combines elements of chiropractic care, massage therapy, and spinal manipulation our goal is to help your body heal itself.

Is it safe to visit a chiropractor during pregnancy?

All Better Health Chiropractic our physicians are specially trained to work with pregnant women and there are no known contraindications or issues. Chiropractic care or spinal manipulation is great when women are experiencing extra weight on their lower backs, tension in their spine, or increased physiological stress. Pinched nerves are common, as are misalignments.

What is bulging disc treatment?

When a disc in your spine has slipped out of place and become weakened through injury, or because of deterioration over time, it can swell and further extend beyond where it’s supposed to be. Simply put, bulging discs can lead to herniation and put pressure on nearby nerves. Like all other conditions, we’ll assess symptoms and causes, then design treatment around you and your lifestyle that reduces pain, eases inflammation, and restores mobility.
